One too many mornings

The Pogues gig last night was as riotous and shambolic as you would expect, but also touching.

It was a reunion will all the original members, plus Cait O’Riordan. It was Spider Stacy’s birthday, and the rendition of Fairytale of New York dedicated to the campaign for Justice for Kirsty was very moving.

Shane Magowan could hardly speak and looked really ‘tired’ toward the end of the gig. The crowd was predictably up for it and realistically any performance would have went down a storm.

That said I had a cracking night. The only disappointment was the no show of Damian Dempsey who is not touring with them. I look foreward to seeing him at Celtic Connections in January

Went to Fife Linux User’s group meeting on Sat evening to show them our set top box and encoder products. In return they’ve convinced me to try and move our build system to gentoo. It might be pretty cool. I’ll start by doing a 3 stage install on a pc, which takes a while but will let me see how gentoo actually works.

On the way to work this morning the exhuast came loose on my car. It was totally rusted and two pieces needed replaced. Two hundred pounds at Farmer’s. Off to the Pogues tonight in Glasgow so I’m glad it didn’t fall off on the M8.

It must be, cos the tree is up! It is a small one but perfectly formed. And very classy looking. Just like Michelle. Heres a couple of shots of the tree.

dvbstream 1.8.1 is released. This fixes a bug in dvbscan. dvbstream now repackages the multiple program transport streams into single program transport streams for ease of use by kreatel and amino STBs which are very strict in their application of the specification. Other decoders will be unaffected by this change.

We’ve got a visitor this weekend, Michelle’s best friend from home, Gill. She is probably Michelle’s closest friend. She always rings up and natters on the blower for ages. Since it is the Christmas season we are going to a black tie dinner dance on Saturday night. All paid for too. Thanks to Zonal for that one. I’ll take load on snaps and post them up here on Monday.
